Top 4 home theater terms and buzzwords that are worth familiarizing yourself with

Are you thinking about installing a custom home theater system in your house or condo? We can help with that!  As you start to navigate the exciting journey of turning your surround sound dreams into a reality, below are just a few of the terms that are worth knowing.

Audiophile: An audiophile is any person who’s extremely interested (and enthusiastic about) audio and sound equipment. They’re known for having an affinity for listening to high-quality sound that’s emanated from stereo and/home theater equipment.

Dolby Atmos-  Dolby Atmos is a revolutionary special audio technology developed by Dolby Laboratories.  This tech ensures that sounds no longer have horizontal or vertical limitations, and instead, it allows them to be interpreted as a fully-immersive, three-dimensional experience.

Dolby Atmos isn’t just for watching movies- it also blends well with music streaming.  Since it’s an immersive audio technology, Dolby Atmos is transforming how music is created and experienced. It takes music to new levels by immersing listeners inside the song to reveal details with unparalleled clarity and depth. Whether it’s hearing the layers of instruments move all around, catching the subtle breath a singer takes between lyrics, or being enveloped in a wave of melodies, nothing compares to hearing music in Dolby Atmos.

4K Ultra HD-   4K resolution refers to any device resolution that has an approximate 4,000 horizontal pixel count. Sometimes called 2160p, this type of technology is often needed to maximize the playback of HD movies, videos, gaming systems, and media streaming platforms, among others.  It’s also worth mentioning that the terms Ultra HD (UHD) and 4K are often used interchangeably.

Projector screen-  A home projector screen is essentially a much smaller version of the screens you see movies on in movie theaters. They include a flat surface and a support structure, and most are permanently installed and can be lowered or raised as needed.  Although flat screens are the most common, curved screens are also available.
